Prague is such a surprising city. We had come over from Berlin by car and we didn’t quite know what to expect when we drove into the Czech Republic. Already, our first brush with the country was at the border, encountering the highway patrol that said we were speeding in an 80km/h zone (the highway was 130km/h and we must have missed the stretch that was 80lm/h). Paying a fine was not what we wanted to experience for our first time in this fine country.
But walking the city made us forget our foes very quickly.
The city still has its charming old buildings and cobblestones. Like entering a time machine, Prague felt like being in a European city before World War II.
There was music on the streets.
There were (slightly inebriated) bubble performers.
There were people just chilling by the park.
Insert obligatory selfie here.
We walked through the city till it was dusk, and then we decided to walk along the River Vltava.
Along the river, beneath the bridges, there was a whole other life going on. We stumbled upon a party where a band played and people gathered around a bicycle pub. Music, beer and bicycles: what more do you need in life?

As the night approached, the bridges did their work, connecting pedestrians, bicycles, cars and trams with their destinations.
Some just came to the bridges to read.
Some found time for a kiss or two.
In the trams and buses, it was perhaps a time for reflection.
A time for sending a text to say, “I am coming home.”
And a time for basking in the warm glow of dusk falling upon the fair city of Prague.
