Another lost roll of film from 8 years ago

Once again, another roll of film returns from LLAB Vietnam. And this roll was taken 8 years ago, on January 2011, in one of my Voigtlander Bessa cameras, and subsequently forgotten by me. If memory serves me, this was taken with a Voigtländer 28mm f/2 Ultron lens on an Bessa R4M.

I remember walking by this event near Eunos MRT station, and it was around Chinese New Year. There was a giant God of Fortune overlooking the crowd on a wet evening, all lit up like a Christmas Tree.

There were bands and singers performing, and a fairly large crowd watching the show. And MP Dr Ong Seh Hong was the Guest of Honour. Though I didn't see him when I took these photos. He probably left already.

Dr Ong was then the MP for Kampong Ubi ward under Marine Parade GRC. He stepped down from politics after the 2011 GE.

Some folks were reading the papers while others watched the concert. Multi-tasking is a very Singaporean talent.

Outside, stalls were covered with plastic to shelter their goods from the rain. Not even the rain can stop a good Pasar Malam (night market). Considering that this was a neighbourhood thing, the Chinese New Year light-up was quite elaborate.

Uncles of all ages were there in their best shirts and polo shirts, occupied the ubiquitous Stackable Red Chairs commonly used for Singapore outdoor events.

There is something resilient about film. Despite spending eight years in one of my cameras, the shots came out fine, with only slight fading at the edges. And the feels I get from looking at these black and white images is quite special.

Heck, the Neopan 1600 film isn't even made by Fujifilm anymore. I still have some rolls of Neopan 1600 in my fridge. I shall take them out and shoot more soon.
